The National Geographic Traveller (UK) Masterclasses are back with Transform Your Travel Writing, a three-session online series.
Join National Geographic Traveller (UK) for the latest instalment of the UK Masterclasses — a new three-part, online series designed to help you Transform Your Travel Writing.
Hosted by senior members of the brand’s editorial team alongside leading travel writers and editors, the event will identify the skills and techniques required to take your work to the next level.
Across three 50-minute sessions, attendees will learn how to craft an irresistible opening to a travel feature; what to include in a travel narrative; and how to make a name for themselves and get their work published.
The series takes place online on Tuesday, 26 January 2027, from 18:00 to 21:00.
Session 1: The art of the intro — How to make a strong start
For writing to really land, it has to grab the reader’s attention. But how? In this opening session, a panel of experienced editors explores what makes a compelling introduction to hook readers from the very first line and keep them engaged throughout.
Session 2: It’s all in the detail — What to include
Knowing what to include — and what to leave out — is one of the most important skills in travel writing. This session explores how to identify the details that make a story compelling and learn how to turn their travel experiences into engaging, well-crafted narratives.
Session 3: Pitching & networking — How to make a name for yourself
Great writing deserves an audience. In this session, industry experts share practical advice on making a name for yourself, crafting successful pitches, building valuable industry connections and using social media to raise your profile and reach new audiences.
Tickets allow access to all three sessions.
Valid student ID is required for student tickets.
