Luxury and rustic ambience; tradition and innovation; green philosophy and pure indulgence — the family-managed, five-star Stanglwirt resort brings together apparent contrasts to create a wonderful holiday experience.
Since 1722, guests have been looked after by the Hauser family. The resort has grown from its roots as farmstead lodging to include luxurious hotel facilities, covering 30 acres. The organic approach at Stanglwirt sees wholesome food being produced on the 250-acre farm, while Stanglwirt mountain cheese matures in the on-site dairy.
The 171 rooms and suites are all decorated in charming Tyrolean style and furnished with organic materials, such as native Swiss stone, pinewood, and natural fabrics.
In 2012, Stanglwirt opened the largest saltwater pool in any hotel in Europe, as well as a sports swimming pool with Omega time measurement and a variety of relaxation areas with open fireplaces and loungers.
Guests can also enjoy a spacious sauna with panoramic views of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. The area outside has a natural swimming lake, and in 2015, the Children’s Waterworld, which features a waterslide and its own cinema, opened. A new wellbeing extension has just been finished, complete with spa; it uses natural mountain water from its very own spring — which comes from the Wilder Kaiser — heated using geothermal and solar energy.
Leisure activities also include eight outdoor and six indoor tennis courts, run by the renowned Peter Burwash International tennis school, making Stanglwirt one of the best tennis resorts in Europe. In the fitness garden, guests can take part in free courses, including Pilates and yoga, with guidance from professional coaches.
Keen horse riders can ride the Lipizzaner horses from the hotel’s private stud farm. In summer, guests can improve their golf game at the complimentary on-site driving range, which also includes Stanglwirt’s own Golf Sport Academy. In winter, Stanglwirt ski school organises daily ski safaris to areas such as SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental and Kitzbühel/Kirchberg.
