Illa Experience Hotel is one of Quito’s most iconic properties, located in the artistic neighbourhood of San Marcos, in the heart of the historic city centre, a five-minute walk from the main plaza.
It doesn’t have a traditional luxury hotel environment. Illa was conceived as a family home that opens its doors to welcome its guests and provide them with the opportunity to experience local traditions and customs that represent both Quito and Ecuador.
The neighbourhood of San Marcos offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the artistic and warm environment that surrounds the whole neighbourhood and its inhabitants.
Illa Experience Hotel can host up to 20 guests, housed in four Luxury Suites and six deluxe rooms, which are located in the three galleries of the mansion, including one provided for guests with restricted mobility. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the many special details of the hotel that represent Quito’s magnificent history.
The hotel is a former private home and its design reflects the various periods of Ecuador’s history. The first gallery bears a strong neoclassic
influence. The second gallery interprets Ecuador’s Republican Period. On the third gallery, contemporary character comes to life, complete with an emphasis on luxury that’s practical.
The well-known Nuema restaurant is located in the hotel. This award-winning restaurant shares Illa’s ideology — Nuema and Illa are two families that joined together due to their shared vision. Their force and passion are the key elements to delivering high quality. Nuema presents a unique cuisine concept, which provides a gastronomic journey through the four regions of Ecuador in one meal. Nuema has been recognised for its farm-to-table concept using innovative techniques to prepare each dish.
The highlight of a stay at Illa comes from the experiences that are designed to showcase Ecuadorian culture to visitors. Guests have the chance to taste Illa’s family coffee recipe; take a relaxing stroll through the neighbourhood, and participate in the daily demonstrations of crafts, dance and art in the hotel.
