The Danna Langkawi is a five-storey colonial-inspired hotel with an exterior that hints at the luxury and decadence within. The hotel is only a short drive from the airport and close to the Langkawi Cable Car, where guests can gaze down at sweeping views of the rainforest canopy and surrounding islands.
The Danna Langkawi houses 125 rooms and suites, all of which are decked out in an elegant style with warm hues throughout. Each room features a private balcony, from which guests can admire tranquil views of the marina, surrounding mountains and emerald Andaman Sea. The rooms also include four-poster beds and rain showers for that extra touch of luxury. In addition, 10 new private beach villas are set to be unveiled by the end of 2017.
The Danna Spa houses seven single and two double rooms with either hill or marina views. The spa offers a wide variety of treatments, including traditional Malay and Balinese massages, fruit body scrubs and facials, plus bathing rituals and a yoga programme.
Lounge on deckchairs under umbrellas by the gently lapping waves, or take a refreshing dip in the expansive, three-tiered infinity pool — an outdoor whirlpool bath and a kids’ pool are also available. Guest Experience Planners are on hand to help guests book optional excursions outside of the hotel, from island hopping to a sunset cruise.
A wide variety of fine-dining options are on offer: at The Planter’s, guests can enjoy an al fresco breakfast with a mimosa or glass of bubbly while looking out to sea, and in the evening the restaurant menu features a host of authentic local and European-inspired specialities. Situated poolside, The Terrace serves up Italian favourites, such as wood-fired pizzas, while at Straits & Co, guests can choose from quintessential British-Malayan cuisine or opt for a traditional afternoon tea in an archetypal colonial setting. Perfect for pre-dinner drinks or an intimate gathering, The Verandah is the ideal spot for cigar and wine aficionados, with gloriously high ceilings and magnificent chandeliers, leading on to a lounge, The Drawing Room.
A complimentary yoga class at sunrise or sunset, available on select days of the week
