Win a seven-night hiking trip to the Dolomite mountains

Travel to the Italian Dolomites and hike First World War routes, explore the history and ruins found among the mountains, and experience charming rifugi (mountain hostels) with Dolomite Mountains Ltd, in association with National Geographic Traveller (UK).

National Geographic Traveller (UK) has teamed up with Dolomite Mountains Ltd to offer an unforgettable seven-night hiking trip for two.

Tackle a via ferrata (climbing route with steel cables and ladders) and hike the tunnels constructed during the First World War, enjoying breathtaking vistas and spectacular landscapes in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Beginning in the alpine resort town of Cortina — host to the 1956 Olympics — you’ll enjoy the unique charm of rifugi, as well as local family-run hotels. Ending in the village of Alta Badia, you’ll discover hidden military forts along the famous Alta Via 1 route, and have the chance to climb challenging peaks.

Dolomite Mountains Ltd specialises in tailor-made as well as set itineraries to the area’s most exquisite peaks and valleys. Using highly qualified mountain guides it offers a range of experiences, from hiking and biking to climbing and via ferrata.

THE PRIZE
The winner and guest will receive return (economy) flights from London plus seven nights’ accommodation in a mix of rifugios and hotels. They will trek for six days in the mountains along the Alta Via 1 with Dolomite Mountains Ltd.

Prize valid for travel between June and October 2013. Travel insurance is not included but is a condition of travel.

Terms and Conditions

The prize does not include personal travel insurance, but the prize winner must purchase travel insurance prior to travel. Valid travel insurance is a condition of travel. The prize is subject to availability, and is non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative will be offered. All incidental expenses are the responsibility of the prize winner. The prize winner and the prize winner’s guest must travel at the same time. The prize is valid for travel between June and October 2013.

Absolute Publishing Ltd reserves the right to provide an alternative prize of similar value should the specified prize become unavailable for any reason.

The competition is open to residents of the UK. Entrants must be over 18, in good health and have experience of hiking at altitude. The competition is not open to employees and associates of Dolomite Mountains Ltd or Absolute Publishing Ltd, or their families or contractors, or any person directly or indirectly involved in the competition. Closing date is 30 April 2013 at 5pm (17:00 GMT). The promoter is Absolute Publishing Ltd, 197-199 City Road, London, EC1V 1JN. The winner will be notified within 20 days of closing.
